I'd like to proudly present my *coughlongawaitedcough* slightly overdue half of an Art Trade with my good friend, and a tremendously talented artist, This is her extremely beautiful character Carvea! I've been working on this picture for AGEs... and I've probably had the background done for at least 6 months. Unfortunately, my art muse abandoned me for a while.... but was recently rediscover hiding in my re-installed wacom tablet (which is FINALLY working properly with my computer!) What a difference pressure sensitivity makes! *rheall did an absolutely GORGEOUS picture of my character Kaiara some time ago [link] and I'm just glad to finally return the favor! *Glomps the stuffing out of Rheall*
Some notes about this piece: I DID use a reference photo for the BG, but created almost all of this myself. It took about 15 layers. The trees, sadly, are not my own design, but instead a brush. And unfortunately - I lost my info on just who made it due to having to reformat the Harddrive - so if anyone knows who I should credit for those lovely trees - please let me know! The majority of this pic was done in Photoshop 7, using my Wacom tablet. It's the first picture I've ever done using both of those as the primary tools. I did use a bit of Photopaint for a few bits...but only about 10%.
Also - I owe a big part of the creation of this to *Losmios because it was a tutorial that she created that helped me completely revamp this pic! I did the body of Carvea completely in grayscale - before adding color later. And what a difference it made! Lovely Los - you're the best!
The head and grass are sickeningly gorgeous. The overall composition with background is great.... there appears to be, on my monitor anyway, a bit of work that could be done on theedges around the unicorn where it can be seen against the sky and background in just a few places... other than that, I'm amazed.

WOW this is FRICKIN AWESOME!!! I completely and utterlky adore, *rheall is soooo gonna love this picture!
One small note though - it seems to be teh same problem I had with my No Rain On ME (who you will be seeing shortly hopefully! ) - It seems pixeled in some places - i'm suspecting it's got somethign to do with photoshop. Anyhoo, that's not a complaint about teh art itself, which is so damn beautiful!

I am... I am utterly speechless. I don't know what to say. I cannot believe how absolutely gorgeous it is. You captured her wonderfully, brilliantly, terrificly.... she's perfect.
Everything about it is stunning. The background, Carvaea herself... you're a worker of magic, Regan!

In the beginning there was nothing. And then God said 'Let there be light!' And there was still nothing, except now everybody could see it.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
